The School of Essential Ingredients

Aloha Girls,
I am so sorry that I haven't already posted my answers to the discussion questions for the book but I have been really busy. I miss all of you guys and hate that I missed the meeting. I would also like to welcome McKenna to our group, I can't wait to meet you. For those of you interested in Twilight I am reading new moon (the second book) and it is really good. I have been told that the last two books are even better!!

1. I think that Claire is certainly lured to Lillian's because she can feel like an individual, seperate from her children and husband.
2. I think Lillian's upbringing makes her who she is.
3. I think the author did this to keep the focus of the story on Lillian's cooking.
4. Because she wants them to cook and discover themselves not follow a certain recipe, there is no recipe for life.
5. I think she did the right thing and I think they are closer because of it.
6. ??? Too much to type at this time. Sorry
7. That all that matters is how you live your life and how you treat the people around you.
8. I think it is not about eating enough so you don't notice but I do think a lot of emphasis is put on eating as a social event.
9. I think he means that we should all be support for people in our lives, whether this means pulling them up as a ladder or giving them a chair when they fall.
10. I associate a lot of kitchens or places to eat with certain events in my life.
11. Too much to list
12. Chocolate of course

Our Next Books

We had another entertaining book club meeting. Thanks to Rica for organizing it and for choosing an excellent Italian restaurant. I think we all agreed that Ricado's food was delicious even if the ambiance wasn't quite as similar as the one in the book. I myself enjoyed the restaurant very much and I'm sure the others would agree as well.

We also want to announce a new member to our book club. Mackenna (I know I'm not spelling that correctly, sorry!) is Lily's friend and has decided to join our club. Aloha to the group Mackenna! And since she's new to the group we have decided that she will pick the book for May.

Our April book was chosen by Kelly. It is called "One for The Money" by Janet Evanovich.

And our book for May which was chosen by Mackenna is "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer.

Also since Lily will be going to Georgia and will not be back until the end of May. We've decided to not hold an April meeting. We will instead meet at the end of May or early June to discuss both books. In the mean time, Kelly will post some questions regarding her chosen book so that we can have it for the next meeting. The questions will be helpful since we will be reading two books and might forget some details about the first one by the time we are into the second book (does that make sense?). Ok, ladies have fun reading and see you all in May (well except Leslie... we miss you, hurry back!).

PS Rica, will you post something about our discussion on "The School of Essential Ingredients,"
Thanks!

Here are the authors' websites so you can learn more about the books and the authors.

Our Next Metting

Here are the details for our next book club meeting.

To be discussed: "The Associate" By: John Grisham
Where: Sunday, 2/22
Time: 5pm - 7pm
Where: Jeannie's House in Ewa Beach
Let's make this a potluck dinner, so bring a dish to share. Also, remember to have a book in mind as we will be picking the next book. I'm not sure who's turn it is to pick a book. I guess we will figure that out at the meeting. See you all then!
